Disappointment is a family tradition.
My brother, Markus, and I have always been the black sheep of the family. Our parents dream of a future we don’t want. So, when Markus and I come home for the holidays, we might just finally give in to our sinful desires for one another.
After all, we’re already disappointments anyway, right?

Small snippet to show writing style:
With a loud crunch, my car tires plow through the freshly fallen snow while I maneuver into my parents’ driveway. The thick blanket of white muffles the sound, creating a peaceful hush all around me. My heart races with nervous anticipation when I crane my neck to gaze at my childhood home. It’s a grand Victorian house with intricate gingerbread trim and a steep roof. Now, it’s buried under a heavy layer of snow.
It looks like something out of a Hallmark movie, but it is anything but.
Icicles dangle menacingly from the eaves like sharp, crystalline daggers, glinting in the winter sunlight. My grip on the steering wheel tightens. I’m about to exit my car, when my phone dings with a text message. Technically, I’m vacation. It’s Christmas Eve, but I got a coworker to cover my holiday shifts so I can visit with my parents and brother.
This novella is 9K words. If it were a paperback, it would be 53 pages.
