Daddy in the Woods

My eyes open slowly from a beautiful dream.

I look out of the window of Daddy’s truck as we drive through the mountains on a narrow road.

In mere moments, I’ve seen more of nature’s beauty than I ever knew existed. Trees nearly a hundred feet tall, crystal rivers and creeks, and all types of birds and woodland animals.

As we continue driving up the mountain, I notice that there aren’t any houses anywhere. It’s like this land is entirely untouched by humanity. It’s strange, almost-dreamlike. And, yet, in it’s unblemished perfection, it’s coming off to me a little eerie…like I shouldn’t entirely trust it.
