“On a scale from one to ten, how nervous are you, Princess?” Grandaddy slides his weathered hand along the top of my thigh.
“Hmm, I’d say I’m at around a nine,” I confess. “H-How about you?”
“Oh, not at all,” he answers, relaxed. “But, I do want to make sure that you feel safe. And also that you know you don’t have to do a single thing you don’t want to do.”
“Really, Grandaddy?” I sit up on my knees as we roll down the highway. “Thank you for not pressuring me. But, I could never for a second feel uncomfortable as long as you’re around…”
