Emmett has never been in love before. And he never expected that his first time would be with someone he can’t pursue a relationship with.

Cash is amazing. Kind, intelligent, humorous, passionate. He has a breathtaking smile and his laughter is contagious. But he’s also eighteen, and Emmett’s student. He knows his feelings can’t lead to anything, so he does his best to ignore them, block them out, until Cash graduates and leaves for college on the other side of the country. He won’t have to look at him anymore, or think about him anymore. He can go back to his life before Cash Christian ever entered it and stole his heart.

And it works, for five years, until Cash comes back. When Emmett runs into him again all the feelings he thought had vanished come rushing back. And it’s terrifying. Because Emmett is engaged, and getting married in three months.

To make things worse, Cash is working with him now, and they are spending more time together than ever before. In the end, Emmett is torn between doing what he feels is right, and following his heart. Does he commit to the woman he proposed to? Or does he finally tell Cash how he feels?

Chasing You is the debut novella of Felicity Snow and it was a beautiful story filled with emotion.

I am impressed by the amount of backstory about the two MCs that the author was able to insert into her novella. It made a big difference to be able to dive deeper into the minds of the characters. To feel as if you were reading a full length novel instead of a novella.

There was a ton of pining and questioning in Chasing You. Especially for Emmett who had some heavy decisions to make. I really liked his character arc which brings us back to one essential thing, which is the importance of living your life based on prioritizing your own happiness.

There was so much love between Emmett and Cash, whether they were together or apart. That’s one of the things I liked most about Chasing You, that there was so much emotion in such a short story.

Please be aware that there is cheating in this book. It’s mostly emotional cheating, but it takes up a lot of space in the story. I found it very delicately addressed by the author and you could tell that Emmett was far from at peace with his thoughts about Cash.

I recommend Chasing You without hesitation. I can’t wait to see what Felicity Snow has in store for us next.

  2. Lady Macbeth

    4.5 stars
Mild age/gap (8 years), forbidden romance (teacher/student), low angst romance.
The plot of this book is not very original (a teacher who falls in love with one of his students), but the outcome is amazing. I loved this book, I instantly adored the MCs, especially Cash: they’re sexy, attractive, smart but also precious, sweet, they’re two men who are meant to cherish and love each other deeply and the author really gave us all the emotions they were feeling through the book.
It was a moving story, I cried during some specific parts and I was a little worried about their HEA. Even if I prefer story without it, the cheating was not upsetting: actually it was a very touching and heartbreaking moment.
The one thing that prevented me from giving five stars was the missed conversation between Emmet and his fiancée. I would have liked to know how that went.

I didn’t know this book was a debut for the author, she’s very promising and I cannot wait to read other work.

Enjoyable shortish read with lovely vulnerable characters. There was no acted on relationship while they were teacher/student which I really appreciate. Despite one MC being in a relationship with someone else for most of the book there was also no cheating. Well done for a debut book.
