Excerpt:

I can’t help but stare at him. Even in my heels he seems to tower over me and make me feel tiny. He’s wearing a tuxedo, so I assume he’s on his way out to a party as well. For a moment I feel a stab of jealousy and then chastise myself for such a ridiculous thought. I just met him and I’m already jealous of what I’m sure is a gorgeous super model girlfriend. Besides, he’s my best friend’s dad and twice my age.

His eyes sweep over me in a way that nearly makes me swoon. He doesn’t do it in the leering, obvious way that my driver did, but in a way that lets me know he notices me and appreciates my costume. And I just now realize he’s still holding my hand, and I’m hyper aware of how his large hand encases my tiny one.

I glance down at our hands and for a brief moment let myself imagine what it would feel like if they slid down my naked back and cupped my ass as he squeezed my cheeks, pressing me into him.

When I look back up into his eyes, I swear for a second that he can read my thoughts by the way he’s looking at me, with an all knowing sparkle in his eye. I yank my hand back. What is it with these ridiculous thoughts? Like Lexi’s dad would be able to read my mind. Or that he would even be interested in me. I’m his daughter’s age and he’s hot and a gazillionaire.

“Lexi is waiting for us out behind the house. Shall we?” he says as he offers me his elbow.
“Oh, okay,” I stammer. I’m not sure why Lexi is waiting behind the house. That doesn’t make a lot of sense. Although none of this makes sense. Why didn’t she tell me she lived in a castle? All right, it’s not really a castle but to someone like me it sure looks like one.

And now her dad is offering me his arm. I bite back a giggle because I don’t want to sound like the college freshman that I am. All giggly and awkward. I slide my arm through his as he takes it and pulls me in close.
With our bodies pressed together I can feel his solid, muscular frame against mine and heat floods my center. I can’t believe I’m doing this. Whatever it is. Maximus leads me through the enormous atrium, and then past the biggest kitchen I’ve ever seen. French doors sit at the back of the house, already wide open as if they were expecting us to pass through there. There’s a pool in the backyard with lights shimmering on the surface.
