When the tour is over, my dad brings me to the kitchen and I lean on the kitchen island and admire the marble countertop while he pours red wine into glasses for us.

Mmm, I liked the wine earlier. It let me relax and made me giggly. Maybe it made me a little more forward than normal, as well. Plus, I slept with my dad—I want to blame the wine.

He hands me a glass. “So Rose, how old are you really?”

Uh oh. He might not like the answer. Taking a sip, I stall for a moment before lying. “I’m 20.”

He snorts. “Please tell me you’re at least 18. You attend the college, right?”

“Hey!” I pull myself up to my full height in an attempt to look imposing, and pretend outrage. The twinkle in his eye deflates me quickly. “Fine, okay, I’m 19. I swear. And yes, I live in a dorm and go to the college.”

He visibly relaxes. “You looked older in the dim lighting at the bar. I wouldn’t have tried to buy you wine if I had thought you were under 21.”

I want to tease that him he just offered me wine when he thought I might be 18, but I hold my tongue. No need to remind him of our age difference. I don’t want him to think about how he’s got a daughter my age.

He drinks some of his wine and studies me until I blush and want to squirm. “Well, you are a very beautiful young woman. Are you sure you want to spend a weekend with an old geezer like me?”

The way my body tingles is proof I want to be here. Since he sounded sincere, I answer honestly. “I can’t imagine anywhere else I’d want to be.” When he looks surprised, I add. “Besides, you promised me pleasure. I’m just here for a good time, okay?”
