My dad hands me the orange and glances at my attire, a simple cotton nightshirt, before moving his gaze to my bed. The door is open far enough to give him a full view of the messy bed, with sheets all bunched up on the pillow and the comforter in a heap on the floor at the foot of the bed. When he notices the mess, his eyebrows lift slightly and I can tell he’s surprised, but there’s more to his reaction, a tiny quirk at the corner of his lips, like he’s fighting a smile. Why is this amusing to him?

When he doesn’t say anything, I set the coffee and orange on the nightstand.

“Good morning to you, too. So, what time is training?” I ask bluntly, in the most sarcastic voice I can muster up since he’s here first thing in the morning.

I don’t appreciate being woken up unless there’s a reason.

He narrows his eyes at me, which only fuels my rebellion more. This is where bratty Tiffany thrives, and I’m not interested in whatever Good-Girl Tiffany would do to gain approval. Hell no, I’m only going to behave if it serves me, and that doesn’t include making his life easy, either. If he thinks I’ve learned some sort of lesson about obeying or not throwing myself at people… well, then he’s sadly mistaken.

He shakes his head disapprovingly at my rude response and replies curtly, “Your attitude needs some work, Tiffany.”

With a smirk, I stick my tongue out and flip my middle finger up at him. Two can play this game of cat and mouse, and I am not an amateur. It’s only my second day at the camp and he has no idea what kind of troublemaking skills I possess. Not that I have a lot of practice being bratty, but I was born for this role. Anything to get back at him for being an asshole who made me want things and then not deliver. Yesterday I tried to provoke him into f*cking me, but today I’m taking a different approach—to ignore him altogether until he actually does f*ck me.

I saunter to the doorway and slam the door shut in front of his smug, irritatingly handsome face, not bothering to lock it.
