“Who are you?” Lucian asked as he opened his eyes. This time, the fog had lifted, and he could finally see clearly. He stiffened as he recognised the stubborn tilt to the omega’s profile. Lucian lifted his head to get a better look at the omega, hoping his first impression had been wrong.
“You?” Lucian forced out, not believing what his eyes told him. “Oh, fuck.”
It felt as if someone had knocked his stomach into his throat, and he found it hard to keep breathing. Lucian jumped out of bed and gawked at the young man lying naked underneath the blankets. He looked well fucked. Lucian suspected that every part of his skin was covered with his semen and his scent. It shouldn’t feel as comforting as it did.
Why the hell was the Alpha’s youngest son lounging in his bed? He shouldn’t be there. Aden was promised to another pack. Promised to another pack leader. He wasn’t someone that was given to an ordinary alpha who carried multiple scars both inside and outside his body.
“Why the hell are you here, Aden?” Lucian knew his words came out more harshly than they should have, but he couldn’t hide his surprise.
“That should be obvious,” Aden said with a sarcastic voice that resembled his father’s to the letter. The wounded pride in his eyes told Lucian everything he didn’t want to know. Lucian knew the young man had his eyes set on him. But he wasn’t the one for Aden. All he felt was skin-deep attraction to an older and more experienced alpha. Nothing more than a childhood crush that would fade given time. Still, Lucian knew that Aden was both stupid and brave enough to risk his well-being. It had to be the reason why he was here.
“You were the only one brave enough to face the beast, weren’t you?” Lucian asked, feeling more ashamed than he’d ever felt before.
“There’s no reason why we can’t keep going,” Aden said as he pushed the covers away and revealed his glorious and naked body. “I’m a bit sore, but that’s to be expected.” He winked at Lucian before he slipped his eyes lower to look at Lucian’s softened cock. It was slowly coming to life again. “And it looks like you’re just as eager as I am to continue.”

“What? What are you talking about?” Aden asked as he gawked at Lucian, looking as if he couldn’t believe what Lucian was saying.
“Go home, kid.”
Aden looked deflated as he lowered his gaze in shame. Lucian hated to be the cause of it, but it was better to hurt him now than to ruin Aden’s future. Aden rolled out of bed and looked around as if he wondered where his clothes were. He was still naked, and Lucian struggled with the temptation to grab him and push him back onto his bed. Lucian reached for a t-shirt and threw it at him.
“Put this on.” Maybe it would be easier if Aden was covered. Hiding the tempting body might prevent Lucian from coming at him again. Aden threw the t-shirt back at Lucian.
“Keep it. I don’t need anything from you.” Aden headed for the front door. He seemed to remember something as he turned slightly around and faced Lucian. His beautiful face hid his feelings behind a scowl. “Doctor Cedric asked me to give you a message. He said that you have to find yourself a regular fuck buddy so this won’t happen again. They will take you down if you don’t.”
“Why would I care?” Lucian threw at him.
Aden looked as if he wanted to throttle him. “Because your wolf is so damn strong that you might kill everybody around you if you don’t see to your needs and get into another crazy rut. It’s selfish and wrong. Our entire pack relies on you to protect us.”
“Is that why you did it? To protect our pack?” Lucian had to ask even if he knew what Aden would say.
“I only did what needed to be done. Any omega could have given you what you needed. Doc said that the scent of omega slick might distract you enough to level you,” Aden said, refusing to meet his eyes.
Lucian suspected that Aden was lying. The omega was incapable of hiding his distress. He always wore his feelings on the outside. He’d never been able to hide his attraction to Lucian, but Lucian knew the kid’s future held a lot more for him if he was allowed to follow the route his father had planned for him. It suddenly occurred to Lucian that he might have injured the young man during his rut.
“Wait. Are you alright? Did I hurt you?”
“Nothing more than I expected,” Aden muttered before he slipped outside.
Lucian watched as Aden turned into wolf form and ran home. He never turned his head and looked back. Not once. Lucian knew he was hurting, but it was better this way. It was much better if the kid considered Lucian a heartless brute than to tell him the truth. No one could ever know. Particularly not Aden.
