Peter knew they were onto him. He could hear the enemy coming closer as he slipped through the thick forest, trying to escape as quickly as possible. His scent blocker wasn’t enough. He knew they had sniffed him when he got close to their compound. Peter ran as fast as he could, knowing he would die if they caught him. He saw a clearing ahead of him, knowing if he entered it, they would see him. He turned left, hoping that the change of direction would surprise them enough to give him a few seconds to slip away.

At the same time, he sensed an alpha running close by him. He dashed quickly to the side, only to feel a large body slam him to the ground before putting his weight on top of him. Peter fought hard. Using his claws and teeth to fight off his opponent. But the alpha used his body to hold Peter down, making him fight for his breath as he felt sharp teeth around his neck. Peter stiffened and lay still. Knowing that the alpha could easily slit his throat if he wanted to. But instead, Peter felt the wolf shift into a human. He was still much bigger than Peter, controlling him with his body size.

“Shift now!” the alpha ordered him. His voice was raspy and dark. It sounded as if he didn’t use it often enough.

Peter did as he ordered, even knowing the form he was in when the other man killed him wouldn’t make much difference. He heard several other guards come up beside them.

One of the alphas stared at Peter. “He’s an omega?” The surprise in the alpha’s voice was unmistakable. “Are they letting their omegas do the fighting for them? They must be absolutely insane.”

The alpha guard’s hand tightened around Peter’s neck. Peter tried to shake him off, but the alpha didn’t budge.

“Let’s bring him to the Alpha. He might have other uses for this one. It would be a pity to kill an omega,” the guard said.
