Eli heard the commotion. Awakening from a deep sleep, Eli felt confused. Then he heard it. The sound of a creaking floor as someone stepped on it. It was probably his roommate, Jim, trying to sneak in without waking him up. As if that would ever happen. Jim had never been this quiet before. Usually, he barged inside their flat and slammed the door behind him. Always oblivious to what other people considered ordinary hours and when they preferred to sleep.

But Jim had a lot of other good qualities, so Eli didn’t hesitate at all when Jim asked him to move in with him and split the rent. The room Eli got was a decent size compared to the rent, so he’d moved in before Jim could change his mind about the deal.

Then Eli heard another floorboard squeak. The footsteps were heading down the hall toward the bathroom and his room. Jim was probably heading for the bathroom before he went to bed. Eli rolled over and tried to return to sleep. He dozed off for a while. Suddenly, he realised someone was in the room with him, leaning their weight on his mattress.

‘What was going on?’ Eli rolled over and tried to see who it was. But then suddenly, a dark shadow attacked him. Pushing his shoulder down on the bed as a broad palm settled over his mouth.

“Keep quiet, and you won’t get hurt,” a man’s deep voice said with a menacing tone.

Eli stiffened and buckled widely. Trying to kick the attacker off of him. But the man seemed to expect whatever he did. Quickly, the man rolled him onto his stomach before he sat down on top of him. Eli thought he must be a wrestler of some sort, confused that the man had outmanoeuvred him so quickly and efficiently.

“Get off,” Eli yelled at him.

“Lay still, dammit,” the man said. “Or the rest of them will also want a taste of this juicy *ss.”

“What the hell are you talking about?” Eli asked as he tried to push up and throw the man away from his waist.
