Edvard never had time to block the door. He was so consumed with preparing for his upcoming lectures that he didn’t notice anything sinister happening around him. But he thought he heard footsteps in the hallway before they grabbed him.

Edvard looked up in surprise at the unexpected words and saw several hooded men barging into his office.

“What…?” was all he managed to say before two men stepped around his desk and lifted him to his feet. They held him so tight that when he tried to fight, he couldn’t get anywhere.

“This is a nice one. He’ll do.” The man who talked was apparently their leader. He sounded as if he were smiling behind the black mask.

“Both my wallet and cellphone are in the drawer over there,” Edvard said, nodding toward his desk.

The man laughed. “We’re not interested in your money, Prof. We want something much more valuable.”

“Like what?” Edvard feared they wanted to kill him. Maybe they even planned to make a video of the entire event and put it on TikTok. Wasn’t that what the young ones did these days?

The leader stepped over to him and ran his hand down Edvard’s chest.

Edvard gawked at him, still not understanding what the hell they wanted.

“Just get out of here before the guard sees you,” Edvard warned them.

“We’ve already taken care of the guard,” the man said smugly.

‘What the hell did that mean? Had they killed him?’

“What did you do to him?”

“Wouldn’t you like to know? Maybe we’ll tell you. After we’re done with you.”

Edvard wondered if pleading for his life would make any difference. There were at least four of them. Maybe five, if someone was watching the door from the outside.

“Strip him,” the leader said.
