Why don’t you change into this hospital gown?”
I pull a paper gown out of my back and take it out of its packaging.
When I hand it to Mr. Cole, he begins to leave up the stairs.

“Mr. Cole…” I say as he walks away.
“Yes?” He asks me.
“Where are you going?” I ask him.
“To change…” he answers.
“Well, don’t you think it makes sense to change in front of me so that I can inspect your whole body for abnormalities?” I ask him. “I did say that I wanted to conduct a full physical, didn’t I?”
“I, uh, I guess,” he says, shrugging. “I mean, yeah, you’re a medical professional. There’s no reason my wife should have an issue with it. And, so what if she does? I’m the man of the house.”
“You certainly are…” I say, softly.
