The longer we chat, we drift closer together until his arm is stretched along the back of the couch behind me. I feel like every nerve ending is attuned to him, from the heat of his skin to the rumble of his voice. And from the darkening of his gray eyes, I can tell he feels it too—this simmering attraction between us.

I finally can’t stand it anymore. I need to touch him. Feeling bold, I reach out to lay my hand on his firm thigh and give him my best cutesy tone. “I’m really glad I came over tonight. It’s nice to have some company after being alone the last few days.”
