Summer Vacation With Step

 I look out at the Summer sky and know that this wasn’t part of the plan, but I’m glad I’m here anyway. 

It’s an early morning in July, and I’m tanning on a sandy white beach in Rhode Island, about a thirty-minute drive away from Providence.

Unfortunately, my parents forced me to take my little stepbrother, Connor, and his best friend, Gavin, with me, since this is the first trip I’ve been allowed to take without them. Connor, a gym rat since he was ten, is pretty huge for his age is only a year younger than me, but I still don’t need him to protect me I don’t think.

He better not do anything to annoy me, or I will ditch him, regardless of what my parents say to me afterward.
